Been awhile.

Been busy, though, so that's good, right..?

Working on the second volume of MIRANDA MERCURY (yes, really ... look for BIG news on that front later this summer)...

Also drawing a creator-owned sci-fi horror miniseries with Joshua (Gears of War, The Other Dead) Ortega...

And I have a cool work for hire thing coming up that I'm pretty excited about...

Meanwhile, Viz's Free Comic Book Day offering features the first chapter of All You Need Is Kill, which I spent a big chunk of 2013 penciling and inking.  Really looking forward to seeing what people think of that.  The graphic novel is out the same week as FCBD, so check out the sample, and if you dig it ... well, it'll be easy to go ahead and pick up the full GN, won't it?  :)
  • Listening to: The radio
  • Reading: The Troop
  • Watching: Alias
  • Playing: BF4, occasionally
  • Eating: Too much junk food
  • Drinking: Lots of water and coffee
So ... October.  My favorite month of the year.  Kind of a lousy month so far, but there's still time for October to get its act together, eh?  :)
  • Listening to: The Shining
  • Reading: Dr. Sleep
So I just realized ... I have five Artist Proof Sketch Cards for that Batman: The Legend series I worked on awhile back.  If anyone is interested in buying one or more, hit me up!!!  First come, first serve  :)

Meanwhile, working on an unannounced monthly superhero series, a creator-owned mini with Joshua Ortega, a creator-owned book of my own ... and MM2, with Brandon and Marc.

Sleeping ... never.  But 2014 is shaping up to be a pretty nifty year, with all this stuff in the works, eh?
  • Listening to: The Secret of Crickley Hall
  • Reading: NOS4A2 (Still ... been working too much to read!)
  • Watching: Football
  • Playing: Sometimes.
  • Eating: Yep.
  • Drinking: Sure.
Alright, so I can finally talk about what I've been working on ... an adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka's sci-fi novel, "All You Need Is Kill."  It's my first time pencilling and inking myself, and I've had a GREAT time working with the Viz crew on this.  I'm inking the second half of the book right now, and it'll be out early next year.  Can't wait to hear what everyone thinks ... it's been a blast!

EDIT:  ...here's a link to the official announcement:  All You Need Is Kill Graphic Novel
  • Listening to: The Man of Steel score
  • Reading: NOS4A2 by Joe Hill
  • Watching: Some reruns of The Office
  • Playing: Dust 514, whenever I come up for air...
  • Eating: Fruit
  • Drinking: Anything with caffeine ...
Wow ... time flies.  Alright, so just for the record ... not making MegaCon after all.  With work and half a million other things, the timing just doesn't work out for me.  Hate to miss the show ... I love it.  Hopefully next year...

Meanwhile ... working on a top-secret project that I am really excited about.  It's a fantastic script, there's a great colorist on board, and for the first time ... I am penciling and inking myself.  It's a TON of work ... but that's a good thing.  Just wanted you (yes, you) to know why there may not be a lot of updates for the next few months :)
  • Listening to: Audiobooks. All of them.
  • Reading: American Gods by Neil Gaiman
  • Watching: The Dead Zone
  • Playing: Nothing! No time...
  • Eating: Yogurt
  • Drinking: Coffee ... sweet, glorious coffee
Added some of the Batman sketch cards ... will be getting the AP cards soon, so if you're interested, just drop me a line...

Meanwhile, working on some odds and ends.

That is all.
  • Listening to: Dark Knight Rises (score)
  • Reading: Duma Key by Stephen King
  • Watching: Christmas stuff
  • Playing: DCUO
  • Eating: A boring old turkey sandwich
  • Drinking: H2O
Working on some odds and ends ... short stories, pin-ups ... also preparing for more creator owned stuff ... and doing some commissions!  I will be accepting them through the holidays, unless something strange happens to cause a change in plans.  Anybody interested, drop me a line ... the Daredevil1 and Batgirl1 pieces are good examples of some of my commission-style stuff.

Also ... I have Batman 80-Page Giant pg 5 (from my gallery) for sale on eBay...

  • Listening to: Podcasts
  • Reading: Chase TPB
  • Watching: The Watchmen. Yeah, it was me all along..
  • Playing: Not Much
  • Eating: Too Much
  • Drinking: Coffee!
The first issue of Forgotten Realms is finished, laying out issue two now ... well, not RIGHT now.  Right now, I'm updating my DA Journal.  Because I know you care.  You.  Yes, YOU.

Hopefully, I will be able to start showing some stuff from Realms soon ... I'm dying to see what Sal and Len do with the inks and colors.

And I am learning that NOTHING makes you aware of your strengths and weaknesses like drawing a monthly book.  That's good ... and bad ;)

Meanwhile, Snake Eyes #14 and #15 feature a couple of covers I did while Realms was in development.  I think those come out in the next few months...

Oh, and I am on Twitter.  Sure, why not..?

San Diego, CA (January 17, 2012) – IDW Publishing, in cooperation with Wizards of the Coast, a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc., is pleased to announce the all-new DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: FORGOTTEN REALMS ongoing comic book series, hitting shelves in April. Legendary writer Ed Greenwood, creator of the Forgotten Realms RPG campaign setting, will be scripting the comic―his first-ever ongoing Dungeons & Dragons comic series―and offering one lucky reader a once-in-a-lifetime chance to have his or her own character appear in the series!

Telling the tale of two all-new adventurers who find themselves caught up in a kidnapping plot they never wanted a part of, this series offers a fresh new jumping-on point for new readers and fans.DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: FORGOTTEN REALMS features art by Lee Ferguson (G.I. JOE: Snake Eyes), inks by renowned comic artist Sal Buscema (The Incredible Hulk), and covers by acclaimedDungeons & Dragons artists Tyler Walpole and Steve Ellis.

"Forty-five years ago, as a young kid sitting alone in a study crammed with books, I started creating theForgotten Realms world," said Greenwood. "And, well, I'm still at it. The Realms is a vast, colorful, exciting sandbox full of stories waiting to be told."

Readers will have the opportunity to play in that sandbox, thanks to the Forgotten Realms Character Creation Contest offered by IDW and Wizards of the Coast. Eligible readers will have the opportunity to submit their D&D® character and one lucky winner will see it come to life in the hands of the Forgotten Realms creator. Chosen by Wizards of the Coast, IDW, and Greenwood, the winner will see his or her character appear in a future issue of the series, subject to the contest  rules.

Given the opportunity to have your own character appear amid the non-stop action of DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: FORGOTTEN REALMS, Greenwood quipped ,"you know the old saying about being careful what you wish for? Well, it applies to wishing for adventure, too!" For more details, visit the official Dungeons & Dragons website.
